There are a number of fringe applications for Strike it Rich that I think others have missed with this spell

I chose mono-black Zombies because WotC has provided a ton of support for the Zombie creature type over the decades, including lots of reprints, so its pretty easy to pull together a solid deck without breaking the bank

Invasion block was all about gold, its Constructed decks were full of gold, and its drafts had players first-picking common mana fixing like Harrow and Fertile Ground over everything but a few rare bombs
